A sterling silver 'barrel' napkin ring or serviette ring, part of both the 'Appetite' and 'Classic' collections. The silver ring bears the double turned signature lines of J A Campbell Silversmiths. It is made from sterling silver seamless tube from Cookson's Precious metals. It is cut into 1" lengths, the makers punch for J A Campbell is applied and then the batch is sent to the London Assay Office housed in Goldsmiths Hall where the items are tested and the remaining hallmarks are applied. This is providing the silver is 925 parts in 1000 and is therefore 'up to scratch' (and old precious metal testing term) On completion of the hallmarking process the item is returned to the silversmiths workshop where the small dents made are 'planished' down and then followed by the polishing which uses 4 grades of compound, ultrasonically cleaned and finally packed.
