In common with most spices pepper in particular also benefits from being freshly ground. All J A Campbell mills except the ebony capstan are fitted with a Peugeot mechanism, which is arguably the best in the world.

All salt items are gold plated inside to minimize the effect of salt corrosion (with the exception of the ebony mills)

Sea salt, although produced mainly in the Mediterranean and other warm climates it is also produced very successfully by Malden Sea Salt in Essex, England, not far from our Brentwood workshop.

All mills, except the ebony have discreet enameled spots on the knob, white to denote salt and black to denote pepper.
