Silver Claret Jug - Sterling Silver and Crystal Engraved Adam Style Claret Jug

Engraved Sterling Silver & Crystal Claret Jug, in the style of Robert Adam c. 1760

It consists of a Sterling Silver base and a Sterling Silver top with a hinged cover and thumbpiece inbetween which is a crystal body. To ensure stability and strength, both the top and the bottom are joined by a bead decorated handle. Sterling Silver bead wire is featured on this Engraved Sterling Silver Claret Jug to strengthen and for decorative purposes.

A great number of skills are required to create a piece of this quality and complex design. These skills are only accuired after a full apprenticeship and many years of experience. The founder and Master Silversmith John Campbell is the person at J A Campbell Silversmiths that produces this particular Sterling Silver Engraved Claret Jug. His standards are high and nothing leaves the Brentwood workshop without his seal of approval. Everything is made up to a standard not down to aprice.

English Crystal which has been mouthblown is used for the body of this Engraved Sterling Silver Claret Jug. It is produced by a Master Glassblower and his team of craftsmen.

The engraving on this piece is achieved using the copper wheel process.

This Sterling Silver Engraved Claret Jug is both elegant and sophisticated and is the perfect way to serve your fine claret or other wines.

The word 'Claret' comes from the French 'Clairet' meaning pale. This is because originally Claret was a much lighter colour than the Claret of today. Claret is a protected name in the EU for red Bordeau wine.

All red wine is greatly improved by decanting. The process allows the wine to 'escape' the bottle, gain air to open the flavour and removes the sediment to enhance the clarity of the wine.
